This album is the official soundtrack of a game by a small group of devs whom I'm acquainted with. In fact I've been their composer for almost three years now, but these tracks are the first ones that I'm finally confident enough in concerning quality (though I am aware that there is still a whole lot of room for improvement) and mood. Many of their previous games were rather cheerful which gave me a bit of trouble since I prefer making serious, dark and/or emotional music. The latest game, however, deals with LaVeyan Satanism, criticism towards religion, cultists and demons - which is basically right up my alley. Admittedly, the game itself might appear to be more upbeat than my description (and interpretation) of it, although a hint of seriousness can never hurt in my opinion. In any case, I enjoyed having to hold back a lot less in terms of my beloved gothiness.

As a whole, Prayers To The Fallen One symbolises emerging doubts towards religion, but it does so in two different ways - which is why there is a relatively high amount of variance in both tempo and energy between the tracks. On the one hand, there is Demi:Urge, the title screen theme, which represents giving in to temptation and that it is in our nature to do so. Under Mehit's Sombre Gaze and Sekhmet's Penultimate Breath, the exploration tracks, on the other hand represent more abstract and complex emotions which result in a mixture of loss and hopelessness.
